DEGRAFF – Covington defeated Riverside 45-35 on Saturday to set up a showdown with unbeaten Miami East on Thursday with the TRC championship on the line.

Should the Lady Buccs capture a win in the regular season finale on Thursday, they will share the league title with Miami East. Covington is 12-1 in the league, while Miami East is 13-0. Prior to the game the two Lady Bucc seniors, Carlie Besecker and Gracie Anderson, will be honored on “Senior Night”.

In the last meeting between the two top teams in the league the game was extremely close throughout much of the game, but Miami East was able to pull out a 40-33 win due to an 11-2 scoring advantage in the third period. If Covington is able to put together a complete performance in all four quarters on Thursday, there is a great chance for a victory.

On Saturday against Riverside, Covington was able to start out fast by building a 23-9 lead at the break. Maggie Anderson scored nine points in the first half to ignite Covington offensively.

The rest of the game was close, but Covington was able to maintain its advantage on the scoreboard for a ten-point victory.

Covington’s record now is 17-4 on the season.

SCORE BY QUARTERS:
