2022-23 COVINGTON BUCCANEERS
The Covington Buccaneers enter the 2022-23 season coming off of a 5-17 overall record and a 2-12 record in the inaugural season in the Three Rivers Conference. Seven seniors are gone from a year ago and just one returning starter remains, junior Britton Miller.
Even though the Buccaneers have only one returning starter and only have one senior on the roster in Mic Barhorst, there is plenty of excitement considering the talent that is on the team.
Of course, Britton Miller will be a key contributor since he is the lone returning starter, but the Buccs do have six other players who contributed a year ago and received varsity letters, including senior Mic Barhorst. The other returning lettermen are juniors Gunner Kimmel, Bryson Hite and Connor Humphrey, along with sophomores Brogan Angle and Tanner Palsgrove.
Plus, sophomores Tyler Jay, Garrett Leistner and Kian French have the potential to have an impact for the Buccaneers.
Yes, Covington is relatively young, but the potential is there to improve dramatically on the record from a year ago. The competition is stiff, however, especially in the Three Rivers Conference. Miami East, Milton-Union and Troy Christian are favored to battle it out for the league titles, while Covington is in the mix with Northridge, Lehman Catholic, Bethel and Riverside to make a challenge.
