CASSTOWN – Covington faced a talented and experienced Miami East team on Wednesday and played extremely hard even though the end result was a 10-7 loss.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Buccs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second and then scored three runs in the top of the third to push their lead to 4-0.

Miami East responded with a three-run home run by Reagan Howell in the bottom of the third to cut margin to 4-3, but the Lady Buccs plated two runs in the top of the fourth for a 6-3 lead.

The Lady Buccs had a rough bottom of the fourth as Miami East scored five runs in the inning to take its first lead of the game, 8-6. The Vikings then scored two more runs in the fifth to push their advantage to 10-6.

Covington continued to battle, but managed just one more run the rest of the way. That run came on a solo home run by Elizabeth Coblentz in the top of the sixth. Coblentz went 3-for-3 on the day.

The Lady Buccs, now 12-6 overall and 7-2 in the TRC, face another tough opponent tomorrow at home against Milton-Union.
