WEST MILTON – The Covington Buccaneers defeated Milton-Union 7-2 by taking advantage of nine errors committed by the Bulldogs.

All seven runs scored by Covington came in the top of the second inning. Two errors by the Bulldogs and a hit batter loaded the bases. Michael Hagan drew a walk to score Jacob Tipps and then Carter Owens reached on an error to score Grant Blore to give the Buccs a 2-0 lead.

Tyler Jay connected on a single to score Connor Humphrey and Michael Hagan and Brairen Denson followed with a single to score Carter Owens to push the lead to 5-0.

Things kept rolling for Covington as Ashton Skaggs drilled a two-run single that scored Brairen Denson and Tanner Palsgrove to put the Buccaneers on top with a comfortable lead 7-0.

Milton-Union responded with a run in the bottom of the second and then scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 7-2 in favor of Covington.

Junior hurler Ashton Skaggs pitched very well in going the distance for Covington. He struck out five batters and allowed just five hits on the day.

The defense behind him played very well despite committing one error. A huge situation for the Buccs came on a double play that led to getting out of a tough situation in the seventh inning.

Covington improves its record to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the TRC. The Buccs travel to Lehman tomorrow in another critical TRC match-up.
