COVINGTON – It was a highly contested game,. but the Covington Buccaneers where able to squeeze out a 1-0 victory over Riverside to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the TRC.

A huge credit goes to junior pitcher Ashton Skaggs and the defense behind him as the Buccs prevented Riverside from scoring any runs. The Buccs did commit two errors, but they never allowed Riverside to take advantage of it. Skaggs threw six innings and struck out 11 batters. Brairen Denson threw the seventh inning to pick up the save.

Scoring opportunities for the Buccaneers were not very applicable as Covington only managed to record three hits throughout the entire game.

Fortunately the Buccaneers were able to score the only run in the game in the third inning when Carson Taylor crossed home plate on an RBI single by freshman Brairen Denson.

Covington travels to Miami East (7-1) on Thursday in another critical league contest.
