WEST MILTON – Covington traveled to West Milton on Thursday for a critical TRC contest and was able to pull away with a 46-30 victory over Milton-Union.

It wasn’t easy as Milton-Union made Covington earn every point. The Lady Bulldogs’ defense was aggressive and quick, forcing the Lady Buccs to be patient at the offensive end.

Covington was able to build a 10-7 lead after one and pushed its advantage to 25-19 at the break. The Lady Buccs then outscored Milton-Union 10-4 in the third period and closed out the contest with a strong fourth quarter.

The biggest difference in the game was Covington’s ability to get to the free throw line. The Lady Buccs made 17 of 23 free throw attempts, while Milton-Union was 5 of 7.

Carlie Besecker led Covington in scoring with 14 points, while Gracie Anderson finished with 13 points.

Covington improves its record to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the TRC, while Milton-Union drops to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the league.

The Lady Buccs will host the Buccaneer Holiday Classic on December 29th and 30th with the opening round being against Arcanum.
