Covington High School senior Rayna Horner, the daughter of Dave and Kami Horner, signed her letter of intent to run track and field for Toledo University once her high school athletic career is completed next spring.
Horner, who currently holds a 3.7 GPA at Covington, received both academic and athletic scholarships from Toledo and plans to major in Social Work.
She will join coach Linh Nguyen's program at Toledo with an impressive resume at the high school level. Horner currently holds Covington's 400 meter dash record of 57.92 and is a park of the record-holding 4x400 meter relay team that timed in at 3:59.74. She also holds the district meet record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.92.
Under Covington girls track coach Dave Tobias, Rayna's junior season was a memorable one as she won her third league championship, a district title, a regional championship and earn two state medals - sixth in the 400 meter dash and seventh in the 4x400 meter relay with Breanna Kimmel, Morgan Lowe and Paige Boehringer.
Horner has her senior season on the track left to hopefully ad more records to her name and finish higher on the podium at state.
Then, it is off to Toledo University, which competes in the Mid-American Conference.
