|2017 COVINGTON BUCCS GIRLS TRACK TEAM...
Expectations are high once again for the Covington girls track team as they look to defend league and district championships.
"We want to be competitive at every meet and finish well at our invitational," said Covington coach Dave Tobias. "We will also want to defend our CCC championship and district title again this year. As always, we will work to produce some district and regional event champions and qualify girls to the state meet again this year."
And despite losing four talented seniors from a year ago, including Carly Shell who is now competing at the collegiate level, the Lady Buccs have the ammunition to do just that with the return of a very talented roster.
Leading the way for Covington are seniors Anna Dunn, Kailyn Pond, Kelsey McReynolds, and Natalie Snyder - along with juniors Breanna Kimmel, Tori Lyle, Daniell Alexander and Rayna Horner. Both Lyle and Kimmel were a part of the 4x200 relay team that qualified for state as freshmen and Kimmel is a returning state qualifier in the 100 meter dash. Anna Dunn also has state experience from Cross Country.
Sophomores Paige Boehringer and Ashlyn Plessinger are stellar mid to long distance runners, while Lillian Hamilton and Leah Poling will contribute point in high jump and Lauren Christian is the school record holder in the shot.
Plus, a talented group of newcomers join the program after having great success at the junior high level.
