A SPECIAL DAY FOR LADY BUCCS BASKETBALL...
The past, present and future was on display Saturday in a day filled with Lady Buccs Basketball - capped by a 53-34 win over Fairlawn in the nightcap.
Former Lady Buccs put on a show in the annual alumni game.

NOVEMBER 20, 2021 - COVINGTON
Saturday was a special day for Lady Buccs basketball as the day was filled with contests showcasing the past, present and future of the program.

The future of the program was showcased Saturday morning as the seventh and eight grade girls split with Russia, another program with a rich tradition of success.

The program's past was showcased in the fourth annual alumni game played at 4:30 in the afternoon. Several former Lady Bucc standouts returned to the floor to catch a taste of their glory days. Those who played will probably feel it over the next few days, but they put on a great show.

The present featured the Lady Buccs taking on Fairlawn in the nightcap after the junior varsity fell to Beavercreek.

And Covington overcame a sluggish first half to pull away for a 53-34 win to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Early on the Lady Buccs found it difficult to find its offensive consistency as open looks wouldn't fall. Carlie Besecker found herself in early foul trouble and watched from the bench the entire second quarter.

Still, the defense did its job in holding Fairlawn in check as the game went into the break with Covington leading 20-17.

The Lady Buccs gradually built momentum in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 31-22 at the end of the frame and the closing the show with 22 points in the final quarter.

Carlie Besecker led the Lady Buccs with a game-high 24 points, while Maggie Anderson and Claudia Harrington contributed with ten points each.

The Lady Buccs play their first TRC league game at Riverside on Tuesday with a 6pm JV start.
